AI + 5G
ML to create smart connectivity
AI + 5G to enhance communications and reduce energy consumption
I am a digital transformation consultant, space professional, sustainability specialist and social scientist focused on the dual purpose of terrestrial and space domain innovation to address sustainability challenges on Earth and space.
I am an experienced industry executive and entrepreneur in the space and smart city industries. My digital transformation philosophy is to connect people, processes, products, and technology. Previously, I held a senior executive expatriate role at Korea Telecom (KT) in South Korea, where I focused on smart city and sustainability platforms. I also held executive positions with Digi-Data (acquired by Synchronoss Technologies) developing cloud platforms and with Titan Platform, an AI company.
My entrepreneurial journey includes participating in several innovation programs such as the IBM Watson AI XPrize (AI semantic storyteller), NASA iTech (spaceplane concept), and StEP Ignite (quantum enhanced sensor).
I am currently a DPhil (Ph.D) student at the University of Oxford researching smart city applications in secondary cities. I transitioned into the program after completing my MSc in Sustainable Urban Development also at Oxford. Prior to that, I completed my MBA at the University of Houston and earned my BS at the University of Texas at Austin.
Beyond my professional life, I volunteer as a Rise Selector with the University of Oxford, helping identify promising young people for the Rhodes Trust Rise Program. Additionally, I serve on the advisory board of AI for Good and STAR Sciences. I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of innovators, explorers and scientists.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the Texas hill country, exploring innovation, and traveling with my wife and our Japanese Spitz. I am an avid reader and student, as I continue to learn about astronomy, physics and quantum science. Some of my favorite authors include David Grann, Olaf Stapledon, A.G. Riddle, and Michio Kaku. While I call Austin, Texas home, I share my time between Austin, South Korea and the UK.
Looking ahead, I am excited about exploring new ways to address climate change, underserved communities, reducing the digital gap and integrating space technology into sustainable development initiatives.
